Track Guide
Here we have some tips, tricks and shortcuts that you can perform throughout the different cups. You can view a video below showcasing different shortcuts and tactics.
Alternatively, you can read up on the different shortcuts across all courses below.
Mushroom Cup
Luigi Circuit
Near the start of this course, after the first straight road there is a road that takes you to the right around the Chain Chomp. Please note that this shortcut isn’t available in 50cc.
It is best to stay on the inside of the course; those speed boost pads aren’t as quick as turning around the bends.
Just before the last bend there is a short track leading off to the right, which is similar to the first shortcut. This shortcut is not available in the 50cc version of this track.
Peach Beach
Shortly after the start there is a green pipe. Enter it and you will shoot out into two double bonus items; however using this route will slow you down.
Mushroom Required: Go to a ramp on the beach to the left as soon as you pass the first corner. This route is slower, however you’ll receive two bonus items. Be careful no to go into the water.
Alternatively you can go on the normal route, just be aware of the set of sand creatures.
Baby Park
Stay on the inside corners of the tracks.
Attempt to do at least one powerslide boost around each bend.
Dry Dry Desert
Mushroom Required: If you have a mushroom use them to cut across the track by going over sandy areas.
Make sure that you don’t get swallowed in the quick sand. It’s best to go on the right-hand side of the quicksand.
Flower Cup
Mushroom Bridge
At the start of the race turn sharply to the right and follow the path to go into a pipe. You’ll receive some special items, however this route will slow you down a bit.
After you exit the first tunnel, there is a hill on the right. Use a mushroom to get up the hill or drive to the hill at maximum speed; be sure to turn sharply in case you land back on track at the wrong angle.
On the sides of the track there are small pathways that can be driven through if you see the opening. This will protect you from all the other racers and the traffic, but is likely to slow you down.
As you reach the bridge drive onto the slides on the right hand side. There are boost pads aon these slides, however this requires much practice as you must position yourself to drive along the slide straightly.
Mario Circuit
Stay on the inside corners of the track.
Beware of the Chain Chomp on the side of the track because he will stretch ot bite you if you’re too close.
Avoid the Goombas by finding spaces between them. They move in a certain pattern; once you realise their movement you’ll be able to easily avoid them. If you hit them with an item, they will drop mushrooms.
Daisy Cruiser
Be careful of the moving dining tables inside of the ship.
Soon after that room you’ll see holes in the ship. Drop down, but not all full pace because you’ll bounce off the wall and it will slow you down. Then continue along the pathway to be shot out of the pipe back onto the track.
Waluigi Stadium
On the first bend before the speed ramp boost or mushroom boost over the right murky path.
After the second speed ramp, shroom boost or turbo boost over the left-hand muddy path.
Weave in and out of the piranha plants poking their heads out. It is best to powerslide around these tight bends.
After the last piranha plant on the left is a steep hill. If you shroom boost or turbo boost at the right angle across the hill to get as far across the course as you can, you’ll jump high, and Lakitu will think you have just fallen off the bridge which can be seen above. Lakitu will place you on the last ramp before the finish line. You need pure skill to perform this glitch.
Star Cup
Sherbet Land
Near the start of the course you can cut across some snow on the left. You’ll return back onto the course.
Inside the tunnel try and grab an item.
After you leave the tunnel boost across the right snow path to cut some of the course.
Going behind the blue tower near the end won’t speed you up. You’re more likely to drive into a freezy. Avoid the ice freezies or else you’ll freeze.
Mushroom City
At the start of the course continue forward, until after where the road forks off. Just after where the road forks off you’ll see a narrow pink path. If you have good driving skill and can avoid bumping into the walls this will save you some time.
Near the end of the course there is a small road on the right; if you can stay straight and nott fall into the hole you’ll avoid all of the traffic.
Yoshi Circuit
Near the beginning across Yoshi’s arm is a small gap that requires a powerslide turbo boost or a shroom boost to get over.
After the tunnel in Yoshi’s nose you’ll see a small part where no railings are. If you have a mushroom boost you can boost over and into a tunnel. This shaves sometime and there is a double bonus item at the end of the tunnel.
DK Mountain
If you have a mushroom when you lan on the mountain after going in the cannon, it is best to use it, as you tend to lose speed when you land.
Try and stay next to the wall on the right when going down the mountain; be cautious and aware of the boulders.
Near the end there is a sharp U turn. It is possible to jump across the gap between the paths if you powerslide over.
Special Cup
Wario Colloseum
When you land on the spirally road that leads down, try and stay on the inside of the corner by holding R and pressing B to sharply turn.
Be careful, because there are parts of the course that do not have walls, so you’re likely to fall.
When you reach the large circular hole go straight forward onto the speed ramp, and you’ll land on the other side with ease. However, when landing, remember to sharply turn left to get across the bend.
Dino Dino Jungle
Try and drive underneath the dinosaur avoiding its legs.
After the first tunnel if you turn right, you’ll see another narrow path with speed ramps. If you have mastered controlling your balance and positioning you should be able to get across without falling in the water.
Mushroom Required: You’ll soon enter a small cave. If you have a mushroom you can boost over the ramp on the right to get across the course quicker.
When you get out of the cave beware of the dinosaur poking his head out over the bridge. Stay to the left. If you have a banana or fake item box, it is best to drop it there so opponents can’t get past.
Near the end there are water chutes. Look early to see where the water will come out of, and judge which hole to go over.
Bowser Castle
Avoid the thwomps inside the castle by driving at the side of them.
It is possible to go between the spinning fireballs; this will shave a couple of seconds as you won’t have to drive all the way around.
Where the Mecha Bowser is shooting fireballs, there is a gap that can be jumped over onto the other side of the path. It is best to approach the gap leaning to the left to make it easier for you to turn when you get onto the other side.
Rainbow Road
There are U-turns which can be avoided if you turn sharply by holding R and B.
On the long road try and use the speed boosts. It is best to drift on the inside of the track along this long road.
Near the end there is a spiral path to follow. Powerslide and drift to maintain your control around the bends.
